THE GEESE GIVE US THE SECRET OF THE SUCCESS ROAD

This fall when you see geese heading south for the winter, flying along in "V" formation, you might be interested in knowing what science and psychology have discovered about why they fly that way. It has been learned that as each bird flaps it wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range than in each bird flew on its own.

People who share common purposes, beliefs and direction develop a team spirit and team effort that can accomplish far more in less time becuase they are traveling on the thrust of one another -- this is what builds momentum.

Whenever a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone, and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front. When the lead goose gets tired, he rotates back in the wing and another goode flies point.

If we really understand this, we will stay in our inner circle and apply the extra effort with those who are headed in the direction of our beliefs and purposes. It pays to work together as a team -- with people the same as with geese flying south!

And finally, when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gun shot and falls out, two geese fall out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with the goose until it is either able to fly or it dies. They then launch out on their own, or with another formation, to catch up with their original flock.
